Vegetation Management Technicians (VMT) (aka. Weed Sprayer, Herbicide Applicator)

This is a seasonal position from late April to the end of August with the possibility of extension.

This position involves:
• Herbicide application and weed management
• Weed identification and record keeping Anticipated job start date April 30 in Nisku AB.
• Inventory and equipment management
• Equipment operation and maintenance
• Quality customer contact and public relations

Conditions of employment: These certifications are an added bonus:
• Be 18 years of age or older • UTV Safety Training
• Be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol test • Herbicide Applicator License (BC, AB, SK, MB)
• Have valid class 5 driver’s license for at least 2 years • Wildlife/Bear awareness
• Provide a driver’s abstract suitable to our insurance • Class 1 or 3 driver’s license
• Standard First Aid Level C certification • Confined space
• H2S Alive
• CSO/CSTS 2020

• Have a great attitude and are safety focused
• Are in good health, bondable and energetic
• Are willing to work with others outdoors for long hours with overtime

Expected compensation for full season participation is as follows (this estimate is based on previous seasons; staff are paid hourly)

First year VMT $14,000-$18,000 plus meal allowance paid over the course of the season ~$2600
Second year VMT $16,000-$22,000 plus meal allowance paid over the course of the season ~$2600
Third year VMT $19,000-$24,000 plus meal allowance paid over the course of the season ~$2600

Accommodations and meal allowances are provided while working away from home base.

Class 1 Drivers – For 2024 ACE is recruiting drivers with experience hauling equipment throughout western Canada. Current Projects are in NE Alberta and the Yukon. Heavy equipment operating experience is a definite asset.

Mulcher/Hydro-ax Operators: Operators with mulcher or Hydro-Ax clearing experience are required for various forest clearing projects in Alberta and the Yukon

Chainsaw operators and labourers are required for several projects throughout western Canada.
